AJ’s eyelids fluttered open, a fuzzy warmth spreading through him. A wet, insistent sensation tickled his cheek, then his nose. He blinked, a sleepy smile curving his lips as he recognized the familiar, slobbery face of his dog, nudging him with gentle persistence. The dog’s tail thumped a happy rhythm against the mattress. And the river of chocolate, dark and rich, with its graham cracker bridge, a pathway over a sea of pure delight.
