Chapter 5
Lollipop Trees and Chocolate Rivers
After a spoon-finding mission, AJ explores a land of lollipop trees and cotton candy clouds. He then discovers a chocolate river spanned by a gingerbread bridge, with marshmallows floating by.
AJ skipped back to the candy store, the sun warm on his face. The giant candy bar was a distant memory, a delightful hum in his belly. But a new craving had taken root: a spoon. The one he’d found in his dream was far too small, like trying to dig a swimming pool with a teaspoon. He needed something substantial, something that could scoop up a mountain of ice cream. The candy shop loomed ahead, its windows sparkling like a treasure chest. He pushed open the door, the familiar bell tinkling a cheerful welcome. The cashier, a kind-faced woman with a smile as sweet as the treats surrounding her, looked up. "Back so soon, young man?" she asked, her voice like the rustle of candy wrappers.
AJ grinned. "I need a spoon!" he declared, holding up his hands as if to demonstrate the size of his need. "A really, really big spoon."
The cashier chuckled, a warm, bubbly sound. She pointed him towards a display of colorful plastic cutlery. AJ’s eyes widened. There were spoons of all shapes and sizes, from tiny ones perfect for a single jellybean to ones that looked like they could scoop up a whole birthday cake. He scanned them carefully, his brow furrowed in concentration. He picked up a bright blue one, testing its weight. "This one?" he asked, holding it out.
