The path back down the mountain felt both familiar and utterly changed. Andrei and Mihai walked side-by-side, the crisp mountain air filling their lungs, a stark contrast to the hushed, ancient atmosphere of the hidden village. They carried with them the quiet hum of the whispering stones, a melody that seemed to echo in the very marrow of their bones. The journey home was a tapestry woven with the vibrant threads of their recent adventure: the wonder of discovering a place untouched by time, the chilling fear that had gripped their hearts as the children fell ill, and the profound relief that had washed over them when the stones, guided by their courage and the spectral wisdom of the hermit, had sung their healing song.

He remembered the rough, cool texture of the stones beneath his fingertips, the way they seemed to thrum with a life of their own, a life that pulsed in time with the health of the village.

"It feels… strange," Mihai finally murmured, his voice soft against the rustling leaves. "Like we dreamt it all."
