The air thrummed with an energy Elena had never before encountered, a vibrant hum that vibrated not just in her ears, but deep within her bones. It was the sound of Atheria, the hidden realm, a symphony composed of rustling leaves that sang, water that whispered secrets, and the very light that seemed to pulse with a life of its own. She had followed the artifact, her heart a frantic drum against her ribs, through landscapes that defied logic and beauty that stole her breath. Now, standing on a moss-covered promontory overlooking a valley bathed in an otherworldly twilight, she saw him.

A sob caught in Elena’s throat, a mixture of relief and disbelief so potent it threatened to buckle her knees. She took a hesitant step forward, the artifact clutched tightly in her hand, its faint glow intensifying as she neared. Mateo’s head turned, his eyes, once sharp and watchful, now held a depth that spoke of ages, of experiences far beyond the scope of human comprehension. Recognition flickered, a gentle surprise that softened the lines etched around his eyes.
