The air in Isolde’s sanctuary hummed with a gentle energy, a stark contrast to the humid, buzzing life of the jungle Elena had grown accustomed to. Here, within the heart of Atheria, the light seemed to emanate from the very stones, casting a soft, pearlescent glow. Isolde, her form shimmering like heat haze on a distant river, gestured towards a pool of water that mirrored the star-dusted sky above, even though they were deep within Atheria’s hidden embrace.
“You seek understanding, Dr. Rossi,” Isolde’s voice was a melody woven from rustling leaves and flowing water. “And understanding requires a glimpse beyond the veil of what you perceive as reality.”
Elena, clutching the artifact that now pulsed with a faint warmth against her palm, nodded, her gaze fixed on the swirling images within the pool. She had seen fragments before, fleeting glimpses of Mateo, lost and bewildered, but Isolde’s presence seemed to solidify them, to give them context.
