Lyra’s gaze, usually filled with a gentle, knowing sadness, now blazed with a fierce, almost desperate urgency. Kael stood beside Elara, his hand resting lightly on her arm, a silent anchor in the tempest of revelation.

“The numbers,” Lyra began, her voice barely a whisper, yet it carried the weight of centuries, “they are not merely principles of societal organization. They are locks. And the quadrants, Elara, are cages.”

Elara’s breath hitched. She had suspected, of course.
