The one person Liam had always been able to tell anything, the one constant in the shifting sands of his life. The thought of betraying that trust, of shattering the easy camaraderie they’d always shared, felt like a physical blow. Yet, the alternative, carrying this burden alone, was becoming unbearable.
He’d replayed the conversation with Maya countless times in his head. Her voice, so soft yet firm, a stark contrast to the wild abandon of their night together. "Liam, we have to be careful," she’d whispered, her eyes, those same mesmerizing pools that had drawn him in, filled with a mixture of apprehension and something that mirrored his own turmoil. "Mark is your best friend. This… this could destroy everything."
