The air grew thick and heavy as the scooter chugged along a path that seemed to shimmer, not with dew, but with a strange, ethereal light. Anya clutched Baba Yaga’s tunic, her knuckles white. Even the normally boisterous crow, perched precariously on Baba Yaga’s shoulder, had fallen silent, his beady eyes darting nervously from side to side.

“What is this place, Yaga?” Anya whispered, her voice barely audible above the drone of the scooter’s engine. “It feels… odd.”

Baba Yaga, her silver hair a wild halo around her face, grinned. “Odd is good, my dear! Odd is what we came for, remember?” She patted Anya’s hand, her touch surprisingly steady. “And look!” She pointed ahead.
