The canopy of the Whispering Woods loomed above, a thick, emerald quilt stitched with slivers of moonlight. Each ancient tree seemed to hum with a quiet, resonant energy, their leaves rustling not with the ordinary breath of wind, but with a deeper, more melodic sigh. Luna, her fur still bearing the faint scent of the sun-warmed meadow, found herself treading on moss that cushioned every step, yet felt strangely yielding, as if the very earth were breathing beneath her paws. Beside her, Rivergem’s amber eyes, usually so bright and full of mischief, were wide, reflecting the dappled shadows that danced like mischievous sprites.

"It's… different," Rivergem whispered, her voice barely a breath against the hushed symphony of the woods. "Quieter, but louder, somehow."

Luna nodded, her sensitive ears twitching. She could hear it too. The soft drip of dew from unseen leaves, the distant hoot of an owl, and beneath it all, a murmur that seemed to echo the very thoughts she tried to suppress. It was the sound of secrets, of ancient knowledge held captive, and it made the fur along her spine prickle. Elder Whiskerwind had warned them. "The Whispering Woods," he'd purred, his eyes like pools of moonlight, "will test your senses, little ones. It will weave illusions, play tricks on your ears, and try to steal your resolve. Trust not what you see, but what you feel. Trust not what you hear, but what your heart tells you."
