The air in the opulent, wood-paneled office was thick with the scent of expensive cigars and something else, something acrid and metallic – the lingering aroma of ambition, perhaps, or the faint metallic tang of guilt. Douglas Michael, impeccably dressed in a suit that whispered wealth, leaned back in his leather chair, his eyes, sharp and calculating, fixed on the man seated opposite him. Jeffrey Sanner, his jaw set, a perpetual tension etched around his mouth, shifted uncomfortably. Kim Yhom, ever the smoothest of the three, offered a practiced, reassuring smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.

"The report is… concerning," Douglas began, his voice a low rumble. He tapped a manicured finger on a sheaf of papers spread across the polished mahogany desk. "The whispers are growing louder. About the trust fund, about the… discrepancies."

Jeffrey flinched, his gaze darting away. "It's just gossip, Douglas. People talk. They always have."
