Chapter 25

Episode 25

No one believed the little sister

4 min read

The whispers had always been there, a low hum beneath the surface of family gatherings, a venomous undercurrent to polite conversation. But now, they had coalesced into a deafening roar, a cacophony of accusations that drowned out any possibility of truth. Katja, the quiet observer, the one who had always strived for purity in a family steeped in corruption, found herself utterly alone. Her brothers, Douglas, Kim, and Jeffrey, architects of her despair, had woven a tapestry of lies so intricate, so pervasive, that no one could see the threads of deceit.

They painted her as a pariah, a creature of darkness, a pawn of Lucifer himself. They recycled old fears, the hushed anxieties of her parents who had once believed her possessed, and twisted them into damning evidence. The dates they had set her up on, with men whose eyes held the chilling vacancy of murderers, were reinterpreted as her own wicked choices. Her devotion to her ailing father, her decision to marry to provide a strong presence in the household, was twisted into a shameful act, a betrayal of their carefully constructed image.

And the sisters' trust fund, the very foundation upon which their financial empires were built, became another weapon. They spoke of it in hushed tones, as if it were tainted by her very existence, a constant reminder of the "shame" she brought. The fact that she, the white sheep, the one who abstained from their excesses, had received a portion of it, was a bitter pill for them to swallow. They had expected her to remain the dutiful spinster, the caretaker, the invisible hand that cleaned up their messes. When she dared to live, to love, to seek solace in a partner, they saw it as a rebellion, a personal affront.
