Sunlight, usually a cheerful intruder, now seemed to mock them, its golden rays glinting off the polished mahogany table, illuminating not progress, but the stark, undeniable truth of their shared damnation. Eleanor was gone. Vanished. Not in the way one might misplace a set of keys, but in a way that suggested a violent, irreversible erasure.

His gaze, usually sharp and assessing, held a peculiar stillness, a void where emotion should have resided. He surveyed his remaining companions – Tammy Lee, Marcus Bellweather, and Jessica White – with an unnerving calm. It was a calm born not of peace, but of an absolute, chilling certainty.
