Chapter 12
Harnessing the Power
Guided by Lykos and supported by the sprites, Elara learns to wield her power with greater control. She focuses her will, drawing strength from her lineage and the forest itself, preparing for the confrontation with the malevolent force.
The air in the hidden clearing hummed with an energy Elara had only begun to recognize. It was a tangible thing, a vibrant thrum beneath her skin, a whisper in her very bones. Lykos sat a respectful distance away, his amber eyes, pools of ancient starlight, fixed on her. The forest sprites, a kaleidoscope of shimmering wings and mischievous grins, flitted around her, their usual boisterousness subdued into a chorus of encouraging murmurs. Faelan, perched on a moss-covered stone, watched with an intensity that belied his usual playful nature.
“It is not about force, Elara,” Lykos’s voice was a low rumble, like stones shifting deep within the earth. “It is about flow. Imagine the forest breathing, and you breathe with it.”
Elara closed her eyes, trying to push away the gnawing fear that still coiled in her stomach. Her hands trembled, not from cold, but from the sheer, untamed power that coursed through her. It felt like a river raging within her veins, powerful, beautiful, and terrifyingly difficult to contain. She had learned to coax it, to feel its presence, but wielding it, truly directing it, felt like trying to hold back a tidal wave with cupped hands.
