Chapter 4
Shadow in the Green
A recurring, shadowy figure emerges in Elara's visions. This spectral presence represents a buried trauma or unresolved conflict, its persistent reappearance hinting at its significance.
The green. It was always the green. Not the vibrant, hopeful green of new leaves unfurling in spring, nor the deep, earthy green of a forest floor dappled with sunlight. This was a sterile, synthetic green, a sickly hue that coated every surface of this room, from the pale, almost translucent curtains that framed the window to the vinyl of the chair where a figure sometimes sat. It seeped into Elara’s vision, a constant, oppressive presence that felt less like a color and more like a sickness.

Fragmented images, like shards of broken glass, danced behind her closed eyelids. A hand, warm and strong, reaching for hers. The scent of salt and something floral, carried on a breeze. A burst of laughter, bright and unrestrained. These glimpses were fleeting, tantalizingly out of reach, leaving behind a hollow ache, a profound sense of loss that she couldn't quite articulate. What had she lost? Who was she before this green room, this endless green haze?
