The oppressive verdant hue that had clung to the edges of Elara’s vision, a constant reminder of her fragile hold on existence, began to recede. The sterile white of the hospital ceiling, once a distant, unattainable expanse, now felt closer, more real. The incessant beep of the machines, a rhythm that had become as familiar as her own faltering heartbeat, seemed to soften, its urgency dissolving into a more distant hum.

Elara blinked, and the world, for the first time in what felt like an eternity, didn't shimmer with that sickly green tint. The sheets beneath her, a crisp, clean white, were solid, tangible.
