The air in Atheria hummed with a vibrancy Elena had never encountered. It wasn't just the riot of colors, the impossible flora that pulsed with soft, internal light, or the symphony of sounds that defied earthly classification. It was a tangible energy, a thrumming beneath the skin that spoke of a world unbound by the familiar march of seconds and minutes. She walked, or rather glided, along a path that seemed to weave itself into existence before her, a ribbon of mossy stone unfurling through a forest of crystalline trees. Each step felt lighter, her senses sharpened to an almost painful degree. The scent of unknown blossoms, sweet and intoxicating, filled her lungs, and the light filtering through the canopy painted shifting patterns on her skin that felt like warm caresses.

She had been here for… she paused, trying to gauge the passage of time. Had it been hours? Days? The sun, or what passed for it in this ethereal realm, seemed to hang perpetually at a golden twilight, casting long, dancing shadows that played tricks on the eyes. A creature, like a feathered serpent with scales of pure sapphire, swooped gracefully overhead, its passage marked by a trail of shimmering dust. It was beautiful, terrifyingly so, and Elena found herself holding her breath, not out of fear, but out of sheer, unadulterated awe.

“It is… different, isn’t it?” a voice, soft as rustling leaves, spoke from beside her.
