The salt spray kissed the weathered faces of Theron’s crew, a familiar comfort after the storm and the fury of battle. The fires on the shore of Eldoria, once symbols of their desperate flight, now glowed with the warmth of homecoming. But as the immediate exultation of victory began to ebb, a different kind of quiet settled over the ship. It was a quiet charged with the weight of their shared journey, a tapestry woven with threads of courage, loss, and an unlikely camaraderie.
Elara, her eyes still reflecting the firelight, approached Theron as he leaned against the ship’s railing, the sea breeze tugging at his once-royal, now sea-worn, attire. “They’re singing, my King,” she said softly, her voice carrying the echo of the men’s voices from the shore.
Theron nodded, a faint smile playing on his lips. He had heard them, too. Not the boisterous sea shanties of their pirate days, but something more… reverent. More poetic. He had expected cheers, pronouncements of gratitude, perhaps even demands for swift justice. He had not expected songs.
