The salt spray was a constant kiss, sometimes gentle, sometimes a stinging slap, against Theron’s weathered face. His ship, the *Sea Serpent*, though sturdy, felt like a fragile toy bobbing on the vast, indifferent canvas of the Azure Expanse. He’d been sailing for weeks, a king in exile, a ghost adrift, chasing whispers of a legend – a pirate king, as brutal as he was fair, who might, just might, offer an alliance. The alternative was a slow, ignominious fading, a forgotten footnote in the annals of a kingdom he’d only just begun to rule.

The horizon finally offered a promise: a smudge of black against the bruised twilight sky. As they drew closer, the smudge resolved into a fleet, a menacing swarm of ships with tattered sails and hulls scarred by a thousand battles. At their head, a monstrous galleon, its black flag snapping defiantly in the wind, bore the sigil of the Crimson Tide – a skeletal kraken with ruby-red eyes. This was the domain of Captain “Razor” Roric, a name spoken in hushed tones from the sun-drenched southern isles to the icy northern fens.

Theron ordered the *Sea Serpent* to approach cautiously, his crew a mixture of nervous anticipation and grim determination. They were outnumbered, outgunned, and utterly out of their element. As they neared the flagship, a hulking longboat, manned by a crew of scarred, tattooed men with eyes as sharp as their cutlasses, intercepted them. A man with a beard braided with silver rings and a scar that bisected his left eyebrow, stepped forward.
