The air in this forgotten wing of the archives was thick, not with the usual scent of aged paper and dried ink, but with a cloying sweetness that Elara found unsettling, like overripe fruit left too long in the sun. It was a sweetness that promised decay, a subtle reminder of the rot beneath the polished surface of Novel8. Silas, ever the pragmatist, held a small, flickering light source aloft, its beam cutting through the gloom and glinting off cobwebs that hung like spectral curtains.
“You’re sure this is it, Elara?” his voice was a low rumble, tinged with a familiar skepticism. “This… this feels less like a secret vault and more like a neglected attic.”

It’s the perfect place to hide something you don’t want found.”
