Chapter 17
Confrontation at the Nexus
Elara, armed with the truth and a newfound resolve, leads Silas to a place of power, preparing to confront the Architects and their manipulative system directly.
The air in Novel8 always carried a peculiar hum, a low thrumming that Elara had long ago learned to associate with the city's inherent unease. Where they think they are untouchable." The words tasted like ash in her mouth, a reminder of the lies she herself had once woven, the vanity she had indulged. The Mother of Archives had taught her the art of concealment, of presenting a façade so perfect it fooled even oneself. But Elara had learned, through a painful shedding of illusions, that the deepest truths were often the most brutal.
