“You’re here,” Silas stated, his voice a low rumble that seemed to vibrate through the very floorboards. He gestured to a rickety stool, an offer she politely declined. Standing felt like a more appropriate posture for this precarious dance.

“You said it was urgent, Silas. More urgent than the usual whispers and veiled threats you favor.” Elara’s voice was steady, a stark contrast to the turmoil churning within her. The ‘Mother of Archives’ had become a ghost she could no longer outrun, and Silas, with his unnerving ability to see through the carefully constructed facades of Novel8, was becoming an increasingly unavoidable part of her unraveling.
