Making New Friends
Lily, understanding his loneliness, doesn't scold him. Instead, she talks to him and introduces him to other sea animals, helping the otter find the friends he longed for.
Lily’s heart ached for the little sea otter. His whiskered face, usually so full of playful mischief, was now etched with a profound sadness that mirrored the lonely depths of the ocean. She understood. Everyone needed friends, and the otter, it seemed, had been trying to find his in the most peculiar way. She knelt beside him, her small hand hovering gently, not to scold, but to offer comfort.
“It’s okay,” Lily whispered, her voice as soft as the lapping waves. “You didn’t mean to cause trouble, did you? You just wanted someone to play with.”
The otter blinked his dark, beady eyes, a flicker of surprise and hope igniting within them. He hadn’t expected understanding. He had expected anger, or at least a stern lecture. He shuffled his paws, a tiny, hesitant movement that spoke volumes.
