Sunlight, dappled by the ancient oak outside the window, painted shifting patterns on the stacks of books that threatened to spill from every surface. Professor Finch, his silver hair a halo in the light, peered at the Sudoku grid spread between them. It wasn't just any Sudoku; it was the Sudoku, the one from her grandfather’s worn leather-bound book.

“You say this… ‘Jesus Christ Sudoku’… holds significance beyond mere numbers?” Professor Finch’s voice was a gentle rumble, like distant thunder. He adjusted his spectacles, his eyes twinkling with a familiar scholarly curiosity.
