Chapter 7
A Fairy's Fickle Counsel
Zelda continues her counsel, her words weaving intricate tales of past treachery and ancient rivalries. She speaks of the fairies' own struggles for influence during Lavina's absence, subtly highlighting their need for a strong, human ruler to maintain balance. Yet, Lavina senses a deeper agenda beneath Zelda's helpful facade. The fairy's pronouncements, while informative, also seem designed to subtly steer Lavina's perceptions, perhaps to ensure her reign aligns with the fairies' own long-term ambitions. The line between advisor and manipulator blurs with each passing conversation.
The throne room, bathed in the ethereal glow of enchanted tapestries, felt both impossibly grand and strangely hollow. Lavina traced the cool, intricate carvings of the obsidian seat, the weight of centuries settling upon her shoulders like a silken shroud. Zelda, perched on a nearby pedestal carved to resemble a blooming moonflower, fluttered her iridescent wings, her voice a melody of tinkling bells and rustling leaves.

The Titans, ancient and stoic, maintained the balance of the very mountains, their slumber a silent promise of unyielding strength. But it was the fairies, of course, who truly kept the heart of the realm beating during your long absence."
Lavina’s fingers stilled. "My absence?" The word felt foreign on her tongue, a ghost of a memory struggling to coalesce. She remembered flashes, yes – the warmth of a sunlit courtyard, the joyous laughter of children, the scent of blooming nightshade. But the circumstances of her departure, the chasm between that life and this, remained a frustrating void.
