The journey, I’ve come to understand, isn’t about arriving at some perfect destination, but about the relentless, sometimes stumbling, forward motion. It’s about the grit under your fingernails, the sweat on your brow, and the surprising strength you find in your own two legs when you thought they’d given out years ago. Chapter six, shattering that mirror, had been a brutal, necessary act. Seeing the reflection that had haunted me for so long, the one distorted by shame and regret, and then having the courage to smash it into a million pieces – that was the first real act of defiance against the Voice of Doubt. But smashing the old image, as cathartic as it was, still left a void. What filled that space? That was the question that settled in my gut like a stone, heavy and cold.

I remember sitting by the window one drizzly Tuesday, the kind of day that seems to amplify every single sorrow the world holds. The sky was a bruised grey, mirroring the landscape of my own soul for so many years. I’d been running through the echoes of my past, the familiar taunts of the Voice, a relentless ticker tape of my failures. *“See? You thought you were done with that? Think again. You’re still that same broken thing, just dressed up in new clothes.”* It was a master manipulator, that voice, a seasoned con artist who knew exactly which buttons to push. It fed on my quietest fears, my deepest insecurities, and amplified them into a deafening roar.

I’d been wrestling with this calling, this insistent tugging in my spirit that felt too big, too good, to be true. It was like being offered a feast when you’d been starving for so long, you’d forgotten what real food tasted like. And the Voice, ever the spoilsport, would pipe up, *“Don’t be a fool. They’re just being polite. There’s no room for you at their table. You’ll just make a mess of it.”*
