Chapter 16
A Shared Dream, A New Beginning
John and Melissa start planning their future, their dreams intertwined. They discuss marriage, family, and a life built on honesty and enduring love, free from the shadow of addiction.
The morning sun, a soft, benevolent eye, spilled across their shared bed, painting the room in hues of rose and gold. John stirred, a contented sigh escaping his lips as he drew Melissa closer, her warmth a familiar, comforting anchor. This was the peace he had once only dreamed of, a quiet haven earned through battles fought and won, or at least, held at bay.
Melissa hummed softly, a sleepy melody that vibrated against his chest. Her eyes fluttered open, and a smile bloomed on her face, as radiant as the dawn. "Morning, love," she murmured, her voice husky with sleep.
"Morning," he replied, his voice rough with emotion. He traced the curve of her cheekbone with his thumb, marveling at the soft skin, the gentle slope that led to her bright, knowing eyes. "You know, I was just dreaming."
