Elara follows the faint, spectral scent of old flour and burnt sugar, a clue only she can perceive, leading her closer to the ghost's hidden stash of culinary secrets.

The air in my bedroom, usually a symphony of snoozing radiators and the distant hum of the fridge, was suddenly thick with something else. Something…biscuit-y. Not like Mum’s chocolate chip cookies, which smelled like pure joy and a mild threat to my waistline. This was older, dustier, with a faint undertone of…melancholy? And was that…burnt sugar? My nose twitched. It was like trying to catch a whisper in a hurricane, but there it was, a spectral scent, a phantom aroma, a clue that only I, Elara, resident super-feeler and occasional over-thinker, could detect.

"Leo!" I yelled, practically bursting through the door to his room, where he was, predictably, hunched over his tablet, fingers flying like a hummingbird on espresso. The tablet screen pulsed with neon explosions and alien landscapes. "Leo, I’ve got it! The smell! It’s like… like a ghost’s secret biscuit stash!"

He blinked, tearing his gaze away from the pixelated battlefield. "Whoa, Elara, you okay? Did a rogue gingerbread man break in? Because my character just leveled up and I’m pretty sure I saw a spectral puff of cinnamon on the screen."
