Leo burst through my bedroom door like a rogue pixelated warrior, wielding a half-eaten bag of sour worm candies and an idea so wild it made my eardrums twitch. "Elara! You are not going to believe this!" he announced, his voice vibrating with the same manic energy he reserved for boss-level battles.

I was sprawled on my bed, trying to coax my overstimulated brain into believing the ceiling fan was just a ceiling fan and not a whirring harbinger of doom. The lingering scent of Mrs. Higgins' over-perfumed poodle from earlier was still making my nose hairs do a tango of terror. "Leo, if it involves another rumor about Mr. Henderson's cat being a secret agent, I'm going to need a serious nap," I mumbled, pulling a pillow over my head.

"No, no, no! This is way bigger than Whiskers the espionage feline!" He flopped onto my bed, sending a ripple through the springs that made my teeth ache. "Okay, so you know how all this weirdness is happening? The gnomes vanishing, the spontaneous polka music, that time the town fountain started spewing lukewarm gravy?"
