Chapter 4
A Shadow Emerges
Kael, a conflicted former member of the Obsidian Hand, witnesses their escalating activities. Haunted by his past, he decides to intervene, initially for his own survival.

Silas Vane, his mentor then, had spoken of balance with a fervor that had once seemed righteous. Now, Kael saw only the twisted logic, the insatiable hunger for control that had festered beneath the veneer of noble intent.
