Chapter 2

When Life Hurts

The chapter reflects on how pain alters perception, making joy and hope feel distant. It acknowledges that faith can be as simple as a whispered prayer or the act of getting out of bed, and that God meets people in their honest struggles without requiring pretense.

Pain changed the way I saw the world. A difficult season could make yesterday’s joy feel distant. Tomorrow’s hope sometimes felt impossible. Yet pain was not proof that God had left me.

Some days, faith was only a whispered prayer when I did not have the strength for a long one. Other days, it was getting out of bed, doing the next right thing, and refusing to believe that my worst day was my whole story.

The Father above could meet me in places I would rather never visit. He did not require me to pretend. I brought Him the honest heart, including the tears.
