The fabric of the tent, stretched taut and shimmering in the dim light, seemed to breathe with Anastasia’s every dramatic pause. The air inside was thick with anticipation, a potent cocktail of childish fear and manufactured suspense. Sofia huddled closer to Milo, her brown eyes wide, while James and Tom, their blonde hair catching the faint glow from a lone lantern, shifted uncomfortably on the floor. Anastasia, her own blonde hair a halo around her animated face, leaned forward, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.

“And then,” she breathed, the words slithering through the hushed space, “the creature’s eyes… they glowed like embers in the deepest, darkest night. It let out a howl that shook the very foundations of the earth!”

A collective gasp rippled through the group. Tom yelped, burying his face in James’s arm. Sofia squeezed Milo’s hand so tightly that Milo winced. Even James, usually so composed, looked decidedly uneasy, his gaze darting towards the tent’s entrance, as if expecting to see those glowing embers materialize before them.
