Chapter 10
The Entity's Hunger
The entity's manifestations become more aggressive, its hunger for the 'default' state growing. Anya and Mikhail witness its effect on people and places, a chilling erosion of the familiar, driven by an ancient, cosmic imbalance.

Dr. Anya Petrova, usually so grounded in the sterile logic of numbers, found herself tracing the intricate patterns of dust motes dancing in the slivers of light that pierced the gloom. Beside her, Mikhail Volkov, his eyes wide and earnest, pointed a trembling finger at a faded illustration in the ancient tome spread open between them. Her statistical models, once her steadfast guides, were now screaming in discord, predicting probabilities that bent the very fabric of possibility. She’d dismissed them, of course, as glitches, as errors in her own calculations, but the persistent, gnawing unease in her gut told a different story. Now, faced with Mikhail’s fervent conviction and the chilling resonance of the illustration, the last vestiges of her skepticism began to crumble.
