“Your Majesty,” Bram’s voice was a gravelly rumble, each word carved from years of hardship. “This… this is madness.”

King Theron, slumped on his throne, his once-regal bearing bowed by the weight of his kingdom’s woes, merely gestured with a trembling hand. His eyes, sunken and shadowed, held a flicker of something akin to despair. “Madness, Bram? Or our last, desperate hope?”
