Boy, a name as unassuming as a pebble in a dragon’s hoard, found himself in a peculiar predicament. He’d vanquished the Shadow Maw, a feat that, by all accounts, should have landed him on the front page of every arcane gazette and earned him a lifetime supply of hero sandwiches. Instead, he was meticulously crafting a self-buttering toast rack. It was, he mused, a far more pressing concern than eternal glory.

Life, post-Shadow Maw, had settled into a rhythm that was, for Boy, profoundly satisfying. The academy, once a crucible of nearly fatal encounters, had transformed into a surprisingly tranquil workshop. Professor Eldrin, bless his perpetually bewildered soul, had mostly given up on conventional lesson plans. Grumble, his erstwhile rival, had undergone a transformation too, though it was more of a slow, grudging melt than a dramatic thaw. The sheer, unadulterated *competence* Boy displayed, even in his most mundane creations, had chipped away at Grumble’s envy. Now, instead of sneering, Grumble would observe Boy’s latest invention with a sort of weary fascination, often muttering under his breath about efficiency and the inherent foolishness of a self-stirring cauldron.
