Chapter 5
The Vilnius Enigma
The air in the village of Varena hummed with the quiet anticipation of late summer. Sun-drenched fields stretched towards the whispering edges of the ancient forest, a place Lina and Jonas knew as well as their own backyards. For them, the forest wasn't just trees and shadows; it was a larder, a playground, and a source of endless wonder. Lina smiled, her gaze softening as she thought of the warm kitchen and the comforting scent of her mother’s cooking. “And you almost tripped over a badger trying to get to them,” she teased gently. Her secret worry, that her deep affection for the forest might seem like childish silliness to others, always seemed to melt away when she was with Jonas, lost in the familiar rhythm of their hunts.
