Chapter 10
Redemption or Ruin
The air in Elder Elara’s small cottage was thick with the scent of dried herbs and woodsmoke, a comforting aroma that usually settled Lina’s restless heart. Lina’s mind raced, piecing together the fragmented whispers of folklore she’d always dismissed as fanciful stories. The unnaturally vibrant blue, the way the forest seemed to hold its breath, the unsettling changes in the creatures they loved – it all clicked into a terrifying, yet strangely poignant, picture. “A forgotten forest spirit?” she asked, her voice barely a whisper. “Is it… angry?”
