He’d noticed the shift in her over the past few weeks. The sharp edges of her enigma had softened, replaced by a quiet contemplation that mirrored his own growing unease. His own insecurities, those persistent, gnawing doubts about his worthiness, had begun to whisper louder, amplified by the sheer magnitude of her world, her effortless grace, and the undeniable pull he felt towards her. He’d started to withdraw, tensing whenever her gaze lingered too long, his hands instinctively reaching for his charcoal, a familiar shield.

“You’ve been quiet, Liam,” Isabella said, her voice a low murmur, like the rustle of silk. She traced the rim of a crystal glass, the ice within clinking softly. “More so than usual.”
