The air in Willow Creek, usually thick with the scent of damp earth and blooming jasmine, now carried a faint tremor of unease. Chapter 4, titled "The 'Save Our Alley' Overture," opened not with a roar, but with a hushed, determined conference. Whiskers, his ginger fur gleaming under the single bare bulb of their makeshift practice space – an overturned bin behind Mrs. Gable’s prize-winning petunias – paced back and forth. His tail, usually a jaunty question mark, was held stiffly, a banner of his inner turmoil.

“A concert,” he meowed, his voice a low rumble that vibrated through the damp cardboard walls. “It’s the only way. We have to show them. Show them what this alley means.”

Patches, perched on an overturned crate, her drumming paws resting lightly on a collection of dented pots and pans, nodded with fierce agreement. Her tabby markings seemed to sharpen in the dim light, her green eyes blazing. “Show them we’re not just alley cats, Whiskers. Show them we’re a community. A symphony.”
