Beside them, Sparky, a small, iridescent sprite with wings that shimmered like an oil slick, chirped excitedly, occasionally nudging a stray screw closer with a delicate, glowing antenna.
“Almost there, Sparky,” Alex murmured, their brow furrowed in concentration. “Just this last spring, and then… eureka!”
