The cool glass of the Faberlic bottle felt like a familiar friend against Elara’s palm, but the swirling mist within was anything but. It pulsed with a light that was both inviting and terrifying, a siren song of memories she’d tried so hard to bury. She’d been so focused on the whispers of the future, the dark tendrils of the Obsidian Hand reaching for her, that she’d forgotten the power lay not just in what was to come, but in what had been.
Hesitantly, she brought the bottle closer, the scent – a heady mix of night-blooming jasmine and something akin to starlight – filling her senses. It was a fragrance that spoke of forgotten gardens and hushed secrets. As she inhaled, the world around her shimmered, the familiar worn wood of her small alchemy workshop dissolving like mist in the morning sun.
Suddenly, she was there. Not in her present, but in her past. The grand hall of the Alchemist’s Guild, bathed in the warm glow of enchanted lanterns. Laughter echoed, a sound so bright and carefree it made her chest ache. She saw herself, younger, her face alight with anticipation, standing before Master Thorne. He was a man carved from wisdom and patience, his eyes holding the calm depth of ancient forests. Beside him, a panel of stern-faced alchemists, their robes the deep indigo of twilight.
