Guardians of the Wild
Kaelan guides Lawerencia, his sword flashing against monstrous shadows and his shield deflecting unseen threats within the enchanted woods.
The air in the Whispering Woods was thick with an ancient, untamed magic. Each rustle of leaves, each snap of a twig, seemed to carry a hidden meaning, a language spoken only by the trees themselves. Lawerencia, her belly a prominent curve beneath her travel-worn tunic, clutched the rough bark of an oak, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Days had bled into a disorienting haze since the storm had torn through the forest, leaving her adrift in this verdant labyrinth. Fear, a cold serpent, coiled in her gut, but the thought of her village, of the fever that gripped its people, propelled her forward, a relentless ache in her weary limbs.
Suddenly, a guttural roar echoed through the dense canopy, a sound that vibrated in Lawerencia’s bones. Her heart leaped into her throat. She had heard tales of the creatures that stalked these woods, beasts born of shadow and primal instinct. Panic threatened to engulf her, but then, a different sound cut through the menacing growl – the clang of steel and a sharp, decisive cry.
"Begone, foul creature!"
