Rose traced the worn stitching on Luci’s harness, the familiar texture a small anchor in the swirling sea of her own thoughts. The scent of brewing coffee and warm pastries from the bakery wafted over, a comforting aroma that usually brought a sense of peace. Today, however, it felt laced with a faint, acrid tang of anxiety. My neighbor’s dog is a service dog too, he’s a poodle, and he’s just the sweetest thing, always wearing a little vest that says ‘Therapy Dog.’ Does your Luci have a vest like that?”
