Chapter 4
A Clever Escape
Realizing they can't outrun the giant, Max devises a plan. Using their small size and quick wits, they lead the giant on a chase, dodging his clumsy attempts to catch them, showing intelligence over brute force.
The forest floor, slick with fallen leaves, offered little purchase for their frantic feet. Max and Leo scrambled, their breaths ragged puffs in the cool, damp air. Behind them, the earth trembled with the thunderous footsteps of the Forest Giant, a sound that vibrated not just in their ears, but deep within their bones. They had tried to run, to weave through the ancient trees, but the giant’s colossal strides covered ground with terrifying speed. His shadow, a vast, inky stain, stretched and contorted over the landscape, swallowing the dappled sunlight.

Max, though his own heart hammered a frantic rhythm against his ribs, forced himself to think. Running was futile. They were like ants to this mountain of a man. Brute force wouldn't work. They needed something else. Something clever. He remembered the tales his grandmother used to tell, stories of cunning heroes and foolish monsters. This giant, for all his size, seemed rather… simple. His attempts to grab them had been clumsy, his roars more frustrated than menacing.
