Ben’s “inspiration station,” as he called it, was less a station and more a delightful explosion of color and half-finished projects. Claire had expected a sterile workshop, perhaps a whiteboard with mind maps. Instead, she found a room that looked like a primary school art class had thrown a party and forgotten to clean up. Crayons lay scattered like fallen soldiers, glitter was a pervasive, shimmering dust on every surface, and a half-built wooden robot, missing an arm and sporting mismatched button eyes, sat proudly on a workbench.
“So,” Ben began, his voice buzzing with an energy that Claire found both exhausting and, she grudgingly admitted, a little infectious. He gestured with a paint-stained hand towards a large, crumpled piece of paper tacked to the wall. “This is it. The Big Idea.”
Claire stepped closer, her sensible heels sinking slightly into a stray pile of brightly colored yarn. The drawing was… wild. It depicted a creature that seemed to be a cross between a fluffy cloud and a grumpy badger, with six little legs and what looked suspiciously like a tiny teacup for a hat.
