The flyer, a stark black and white affair with jagged, electric blue lettering, felt like a golden ticket clutched in my sweaty palm. "Apex," it read, followed by a date, a postcode, and a single, stark word: "Undercroft." Apex. The name alone sent a shiver down my spine. It wasn't just a club; it was a legend, a sanctuary for the true heads, the place where the underground’s pulse beat strongest, untainted by the mainstream’s clamor. Now, I had to build it, brick by sonic brick, with my own hands. I pulled out my crates, the familiar weight of them a comfort. Hours bled into each other. I sifted through tracks, discarding, selecting, layering. The familiar scent of aged cardboard and vinyl filled the air, a perfume more potent than any designer fragrance. Each record was a memory, a feeling, a story. I needed a narrative for Apex. Not just a string of bangers, but a journey.
