The Beetle's Grinding
A lumbering beetle, its mandibles clicking, poses a threat. The group must use stealth and quick thinking to avoid becoming prey to the powerful insect.
The world, once a familiar tapestry of emerald grass and dappled sunlight, had become a towering, terrifying jungle. They were ants in a land of giants, and every rustle of a leaf, every distant chirp, was a potential harbinger of doom. Max, his heart a frantic drum against his ribs, squinted ahead. A dark, segmented mountain was slowly, inexorably, moving towards them.
“Uh, guys,” he whispered, his voice thin and reedy, barely audible above the thrumming of unseen insect wings. “I think we have a problem.”
Hoops, ever the optimist even at ant-size, bounced on the balls of her tiny feet. “What is it, Max? Another one of those hairy spiders trying to sell us insurance?” She grinned, a flash of white in the dim light filtering through the colossal blades of grass.
