With the artifact secured, Lyra and Barnaby begin their journey back. The path seems less daunting now, his steps filled with newfound confidence.
The weight of the Sunstone felt strangely light in my hand, a warm ember against my palm. It pulsed with a soft, golden light, a silent promise of protection for our kingdom. Beside me, Barnaby, his usually ruffled feathers smoothed by the gentle evening breeze, chirped a happy tune. The journey back felt different. The Whispering Woods, which had once seemed so vast and full of unknown shadows, now felt like a familiar, albeit still mysterious, friend. My own steps, which had begun with a nervous flutter in my stomach, now strode with a steady rhythm, a newfound confidence blooming in my chest.
“You know, Barnaby,” I began, my voice echoing slightly in the quiet forest, “I thought these woods were a lot scarier when I first came through.”
Barnaby tilted his head, his bright, beady eyes twinkling. “Chirp! Chirp! Scary is what you make it, Prince Lyra! Scary is what you *think* it is. But when you’ve got a goal, a real reason to be brave, then suddenly, the shadows don’t seem so deep, do they?”
