Chapter 14
The Artifact Revealed
Having passed Glimmer's trials, Lyra is presented with the artifact. It glows with a warm light, pulsing with ancient power, beautiful and potent.
The air in the cavern thrummed, a silent vibration that tickled Lyra’s very bones. He stood, heart pounding a wild rhythm against his ribs, staring at the pedestal before him. It was simple, carved from the same obsidian rock that formed the cavern walls, yet it held an aura that made the grandest throne in his father’s palace seem like a child’s toy. And upon it…
It lay cradled in the smooth stone, a thing of impossible beauty. It wasn’t a sword, nor a crown, nor any jewel Lyra had ever seen in the royal treasury. It was… light. Captured light, woven into a sphere no bigger than his two cupped hands. It pulsed with a soft, warm glow, like the first blush of dawn on a summer morning, or the embers of a hearth on a cold night. Within its luminescence, Lyra could see swirling patterns, like distant nebulae or the intricate designs on the ancient maps he so loved to pore over. It wasn't just light, it was alive. It whispered secrets he couldn't quite decipher, promises of protection and strength.
Glimmer, which had been flitting and dancing around him moments before, now settled onto the edge of the pedestal. Its iridescent wings folded gracefully, and its large, curious eyes fixed on Lyra. There was no trace of mischief now, only a profound stillness. “You have passed the games, Prince Lyra,” Glimmer’s voice, a melodious chime, echoed softly in the cavern. “You have shown courage, wit, and a heart uncorrupted by greed. The artifact is yours to behold.”
