The air in Mirage Lane, once a suffocating blanket of manufactured warmth, now thrummed with a discordant energy. Elias felt it in his bones, a tremor running beneath the manicured lawns and the perpetually blooming roses. The heatwave, the very force that birthed this ephemeral street, was also its undoing, and he was the wrench in its perfect, terrible machinery. He’d planted seeds of doubt, whispers of a forgotten reality, and now they were beginning to sprout, tearing at the fabric of the illusion.
