The air in the little café buzzed with a different kind of energy today. It wasn’t the usual gentle hum of conversation over steaming lattes or the rhythmic whir of the espresso machine. It was a thrum of anticipation, a palpable tremor of possibility that had settled over Anya and Liam like a warm, sun-drenched blanket. The loan had been approved. Not just approved, but championed. The bank manager, a stern woman named Mrs. Albright who Anya had always imagined lived on a diet of unsweetened almonds, had surprised them both with a rare, almost-smile.

“Your business plan is sound, Ms. Petrova,” she’d stated, her voice crisp as a perfectly baked biscotti. “And Mr. O’Connell’s projections for the renovation… well, they are impressive. We’ll be pleased to offer you the full amount.”

Anya had felt a dizzying rush, a sensation akin to biting into a cloud of spun sugar. It was real. Her dream, once a fragile wisp of a thing, was finally solidifying, taking on the weight and substance of brick and mortar. Liam, ever the pragmatist, had handled the finer details, the paperwork that made Anya’s head spin, while Anya herself had been busy sketching designs, her mind overflowing with the possibilities of what could be.
